In July 2014, Japan Airlines (JAL) trials the latest iBeacon technology to engage the passenger and give them better services at Tokyo Haneda Airport’s Domestic Terminal one. It is installed at each boarding gate to get the exact position and will be connected with the staff via their electronic devices.
Regards to this program JAL received the Future Travel Experience (FTE)* award in “Best Initiative at the Gate” category at Future Travel Experience Global 2014. FTE presented this Award to JAL for its demonstration test of iBeacon and smartwatch at Tokyo Haneda Airport’s Domestic Terminal 1 in July 2014. The Award seeks to recognize the airline that is conducting forward-thinking rollout for improving services at the boarding gate.
For the information, All JAL’s staffs is wearing a smartwatch, allowing JAL’s control desk to assign task to particular team members depending on their position. By using this advanced technology, JAL aim to serve immediate response to the passenger at the airport.
